Notes for Authors

DIEGESIS is an e-journal funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) that publishes original and innovative contributions to narrative theory and empirical narrative research. We particularly welcome articles with an interdisciplinary focus, as well as suggestions for future thematic issues. In addition to articles, we publish book reviews and conference reports. Calls for Papers are regularly posted in the Upcoming section and distributed via the journal’s Newsletter. Manuscripts are subject to peer review.

All work submitted to DIEGESIS should reference and should be formatted according to the guidelines below.

Reviews

For our e-journal, we always welcome reviews of recent publications (i.e., works published in the last two years) in all fields of narrative research within the humanities and cultural sciences as well as the social sciences. Interested reviewers are invited either to choose a book from our list of titles that could be reviewed for DIEGESIS or to submit their own proposals.

If you are interested in writing a review for us, please feel free to contact the editorial team of DIEGESIS any time: diegesis@uni-wuppertal.de.

Guest Editorship

DIEGESIS offers renowned researchers the possibility to publish Special Issues as guest editors. We welcome special issues that investigate from either a theoretical or an empirical perspective any topics regarding narrative in all media, contexts, and fields of application, ranging from literature and film to everyday storytelling, journalism, and social networks.

Guest editors of DIEGESIS are qualified experts in the proposed range of topics. All thematic issues set a clear focus on the research field of narrative studies.

Each thematic issue covers approximately 4-6 research articles, i.e. publications of papers presented at conferences or lecture series are generally not suitable. Publications of Special Issues are subject to a lead time of approximately 2 years after inquiry.

Proposals for Special Issues may be submitted at any time. Please send your proposals to the editorial team of DIEGESIS: diegesis@uni-wuppertal.de.
